Cosplayer Interview: Mila-Tiemy

Welcome to another edition of Cosplayer Interview and we now welcome mila-tiemy.

I was joining some deviantART Groups and came across her cosplay of Sheryl Nome. You will see the actual shot a little later in this interview. After picking up my jaw from seeing that cosplay, her Yoko cosplay really grabbed me. She did a stunning rendition of this character and drew me in to her other cosplays quite easily.

When you check out her deviantART link, you have to look at her Modeling folder. She did a stunning 'Water Lady with a Sword' series. I never know a water spirit could be so beautiful and deadly at the same time. She is also a Brazilian that is now living in the Land of the Rising Sun.

Well, enough of my blabbering again, so lets get to the interview:

What is your name and where do you reside?

Camila Tiemy, I live in Nagoya/Japan

What first started you on the road to cosplay?

I started when I meet a lot of cosplayers in the World Cosplay Summit 2006 at nagoya, I loved this amazing new world and I wanted to try this hobby too...

How do you choose which characters you will Cosplay?

I watch anime and play some games, so I choose the character who most fit on me, her actions, feelings and cute clothes of course xD

I have to ask I was very impressed with the shot. How in the heck were you able to get to stand on the hand of Altos's Valkyrie in your cosplay for Sheryl Nome?

Hahah this is so crazy...

I saw in the internet that would have an event in Nagoya Aichi Airport named "Macross 30th Anniversary" with 1:1 valkyrie and a type of museum of macross world...And cosplayers could enter too, I went in this event and stood in line for 2 hours waiting to ONE shot with this Valkyrie, yes ONE shot per person xD I was so happy to get this photo for my cosplay album ><

How different is it for you to design your own character verses an existing character?

this is funny, create designs for one character is so funny, but need to have a lot of creative,I don't have it so much O_O lol

How do you feel when you see one of your cosplays in a magazine (Cosmode and Maneko Magazine)?

Guy, I cant explain wich sensation...But its VERY amazing to see this, when I saw they really like my work, I feel so honored and veryvery happy in the same time, this is amazing

When you are featured, do they let you know in advance that you will be featured, or is it an ‘AH HA” moment?

Its ‘AH HA” moment lol

We sometimes see that it is looked down on as an art, but is very much growing worldwide. How is the art of cosplay in Japan progressing and how is it interpreted by the mainstream there?

here in japan, the people like cosplay, they have fun together with cosplayers, always have events in parks, for all public...the kids, fathers and mothers always ask to take one photo with the cosplayers, this is so funny, they are curious with this hobby, they really like and respect it...

I saw that you had a cute Lolita tattoo on your ankle. Is this anyone in particular?

ow yes I have, she is "kurumi nui" from the anime "Onegai my melody"

I really love her xD

When not cosplaying, what do you do?

I loooove to collect anime Figures, dolls, Pullips, all of them!!*-* Lolita walkway with my friends, watch a good movie in theater...and go to game center to play in the ufo catchers, I love it xDDD

For any aspiring cosplayers a little shy, what words of wisdom do you have for them to get started?

When I started in this hobby I was very shy too, well, this is normal, a little by little you will accustom with all the cameramans, and when you see this is what you really like to do...If you like it, you can do it!

Where can we catch more of your Cosplay at?
