Katsucon 20

After all my sitting on my arse, I am finally hitting a convention next year. It has been too damn long coming and cash is in the bank for it. As you may have guessed, I will be attending Katsucon 20 in February of 2014.

As noted on their site: "Katsucon is an annual 3-day fan convention held in the D.C. metro area for multicultural enthusiasts and entertainment. Katsucon is produced by Katsucon Entertainment, Inc. (KEI), a 501(c)(3) educational non-profit organization dedicated to bringing information about Japanese animation, society, and traditional and popular culture to fans everywhere."

I have also decided to stay at the convention which is held at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, MD. I am playing it smart and getting in on that Thursday and leaving on Monday. I always plan an extra day before and after so to have time to get settled and the main visitors to leave.

It will be my first time at this place and the photos of it really are amazing. I can't wait to get settled and then go shopping, taking pictures of cosplayers and get artwork for my sketchbook.

Since this is the first in a while, I decided to go all out and get their VIP pass for the convention. It is 3 times more, but you get some cool advantages. I was surprised that there was any left as there are limited to 300 passes only. Here is what you get for that pass:
  • Front-of-Line privileges.
  • A dedicated Concierge Team.
  • A cool T-shirt.
  • A different badge design than the rest of the attendees.
  • A Souvenir Bag.
  • Priority Checkin at Registration.
  • Early entry into the Katsucon Marketplace.
  • Preferred seating at Main Events.
  • a VIP lounge just to name some of them.
My other issue is how the hell will I be able to do everything I want in 3 days.  I have several main things I want to do and no fucking way how I will do them all.

1. BUY . . . BUY . . . BUY - well, maybe not that crazy, but will be interesting seeing what I can find.
2. Take pictures of Cosplayers for the Blog.
3. Do a daily post each day of the convention.
4. Get artists to sketch in my sketch book.

Time Management will be a bitch for sure, but I have time to make a plan. More news to come as the time draws closer!

Anyone else heading to this con?

If you are a cosplayer that I have not as yet interviewed, I would love to do that with you there. If I have done one with you, I can't wait to meet you in person. I am tired of being a person behind the computer screen and am happy to finally get out to meet everyone.
