Cosplayer Interview: YtkaMatilda

Today we have the distinctive pleasure of interviewing YtkaMatilda.

I was first introduced to her when I was reviewing cosplayers for White Rock Shooter (WRS). What I really enjoyed was that she also posted the photo shoot she did (see below). It is interesting seeing the work they have to go through for these professional shoots.

What really surprised me however was the wide range of  emotions she plays out in the cosplays. You will only see a small sampling here, so you need to check out her links. She portrays all ranges from the serious to playful expression in all her cosplays. Some of the photos will melt your heart - even if stuck in Siberia, Russia.

I guess I have rambled on enough, so lets get the interview you all came to see.

Disclaimer: Some of this interview has been modified as she was kind enough to translate from Russian :)

What is your name, where do you reside and what is your age?

My name is Alexander Malushina [and] I live in Russia, Moscow city. I'm 20 years old

What first started you on the road to cosplay?

This is my first cosplay [-] Shinku Rozen Maiden anime

What has been your favorite character to cosplay and why?

My favorite character is the Will of Abyss.

I like it because of its unusual nature and behavior in the anime, as well as cut suit me like crazy because I love trains. Well and the course I did I madly adore Jack Bezarius! ahaha
I saw your YouTube video of the photography shoot of WRS. How did you prepare for this and was it difficult with all the posing? How long was the photography shoot?

My WRS very long delayed due to lack of time. I sewed it in June 2010, and finally it appeared in December, current but this is not the long suit ahaha. My Will of Abyss was waiting in the wings since the summer of 2009.

Photo shoot lasted a long time we have [taken] more than 4 hours, taking into account [training] to him.

When not cosplaying, what do you do?

I study and work. I'm a designer photo-video advertising. [I] also like to paint and photograph. But my favorite thing is spending time with parents or friends.

For any aspiring cosplayers a little shy, what words of wisdom do you have for them to get started?

I sincerely wish you success and get the best emotions of the cosplay! Just a lot of patience and the desire for the better! Because there is no [substitute for] excellence.

Where can we catch more of your Cosplay at?

I'm trying to keep everything everywhere. The truth in different ways. I can be found at:

Well, I have a video channel on YouTube.

And recently, I decided to live journal, and soon there will posts about cosplay and events in which I took part.

Thank you for [being] interested in [doing] my interview! I'm very happy about it!

Here is a Shout Out to our Photographers:

  1. Wow! Now we even have cosplayer from Moscow. My personal pick among the pics would be White Rock Shooter, the elve and angel on the last pic.
