Live Version of Kiki’s Delivery Service

I always get nervous when I hear of a company doing a live action movie of a book or anime. How close will they keep to the story or will they just grab bits and pieces of it. I think thought that his will be a very well put together production.

Interesting to note that both the anime and live action covered the first volume of the series. However the live action movie will also include the 2nd volume of the series. This movie is set for release in the Spring of 2014 in Japan. It is directed by Takashi Shimizu and they will be filming it on an island of the Seto Inland Sea. It is interesting to see that Satoko Okudera will be the script writer. There has been talk on the net that this will not be like the anime

Eiko Kadono 6 volume series called Majo no Takkyūbin has been a big hit. It is a wonderful coming of age story showcasing Kiki and her black cat Jiji. We all know the stunning anime done by Studio Ghibli called Kiki's Delivery Service. It has been a family favorite of ours and one we have watched repeatedly.

When the auditions we called, there were 500 applicants that showed up. However, Fuka Koshiba ended up getting the part of our lovely Kiki. to your left, you will see her in full Kiki mode as this was a production released photo. Interesting to see a 16 year old playing a 13 year old, but we know how the movie screen makes you look younger ;^)

I have to say, she does look the part and I am very much looking forward to seeing the release. Well, that is if there is a US release.
