Review: Wii U Black 32GB Console
With me having my son every other weekend, I wanted him to feel comfortable here. We have an old Wii console at home and I know he loves it. Since I didn't have one here, I decided to drop the cash and get him the latest and greatest.
His friend had the Wii U and he really talked about it a lot. Now it was my decision to get the 32GB one as, well, because, I just love the black and blue lights. I think this is a much more color combo and Nintendo thought so to as it is the much higher priced one. It does have several other additional parts and a game. The Console Docking Station is a must for this Wii U and I am glad I dropped the cash for it. What I miss though was the plastic holder for the Sensor bar. I need that for my TV and seriously miss that.
I do have to admit that I HATED having to do an update on the damn thing fresh out of the box. What made this even more tedious was the fact the games I got ALSO had updates. Most of my initial setup was just running these damn things. However, I wanted this up and running smooth for my son.
What I liked was the fact you can still play games while someone is watching TV. Though this isn't for all games, it is really nice. I can watch Netflix's while my son is happily playing on the hand held console. It was hilarious though watching him play the Nintendo Land game. You are able to look around the game with the Console 360 degrees if you want as well as up and down. Seeing him moving his body almost 180 degrees to look at things was interesting. Tried to tell him he didn't need to do that, but he was doing it anyway - LOL!
Since it came as a bundle, you got one game. He was always talking about this, so I got him Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate for the Wii U. I have to admit, the graphics are stunning and really awesome, Especially when projected onto a 60" TV screen!
I had a blast watching my son, then he added in his 3DS XL version of the game. You can actually link characters between the consoles. I could actually see my son character there with mine and interact - somewhat. His is so much more advanced as mine was a newbie. and we went off to do a quest. However, he decided to take a different one from me. I did manager to kill some plant eaters Aptonoth and then a Velociraptor. He was surprised by that and amazed I did that. However, when the damn poison insects come around, I got screwed. I only did well as he told me to use the War Hammer and not a sword.
I have to admit that I am not a gamer, but I did happen to enjoy Rayman Legends. There was a free download on the system for this game on the Wii U. Needless to say, both me and my son REALLY enjoyed playing it. I will be pre-ordering it from GameStop though. If you do a pre-order from them you get a cool Exclusive Assassin's Creed costume for Barbara the Barbarian.
