The last day of the San Diego Comic Con, for this Cosplayer Veteran of many Cons, “Is for Cosplay Kids”. For many, this is their first time Cosplay the Comic Con. So I make it a point to notice them, and greet them, with a bow. This is the stuff which, “Childhood Memories”, are made of. First thing right out on the El Cajon trolley station I meet a “Young Cosplayer”, and her parent, on their way to the Comic Con. With a full bow, I greet them in my, Cosplay Etiquette:
“I bade thee well oh Young Cosplayer and parent on this last day of Comic Con. I am the Priest of Tao. It’s is my own character and costume from my own design. My “Reality”, given name is DC Rushton. It is so good to see such FINE PARENTING practiced by you my Lady. To quote that professional Cosplayer, MYSELF: “The family that COSPLAY together, STAYS together.”
I would like to report here and now to you my readers about this. Seeing the lady was at ease with me, I ask her to speak her on the side. Hoping the child did not hear. I warned her of the “Bull Horn Powered Protesters Lines”, we would have to cross. Also I would HONORED to escort them. I told of my “Encounter”, and how they KNOW ME! (And leave me alone) I would NOT have your Child’s Comic Con Cosplay Day, “TAINTED”, by the “Bull Horned Protesters”. She thanked me and said it was no problem for them. My caring about her and the child earned me a Good Comic Con Hug!
And so, with the “Comic Con Marching Song”, in our hearts, and on our lips, WE MARCHED!
“WITH RAISED FISTS, WE FLIP THE BIRD. TO THE SAD, PRO-TEST-ERS!
WE MARCH ON, TO THAT PLACE, WHERE DREAMS COME FROM.
THE COMIC CON!”
WE MARCH ON, TO THAT PLACE, WHERE DREAMS COME FROM.
THE COMIC CON!”
Over morning “CON COFFEE”, I check the “M.O.C.L”. (The day’s Mission Objectives Check List) No wonder so many “Doctor WHO”, Cosplayers. A Big Panel Discussion with all the stars of the series. That was that MEGA LINE I passed on the way in. AND… It starts at: 12:30!
NO THANKS.
Only 2 actives I am interested in are way later in the day. My Old Friend of many Cons, Max Brooks and his “ZOOBIE SERVIVAL 101”. What brought us together many Cons ago were our being Brother/ writers, and… “LOVE OF KILLING ZOOBIES”! And that’s all there is to it. 2:30 is the, “Masquerade Replay” in room 8. This is my way of avoiding the Saturday Masquerade MOB. I shall report to you my readers that at each of these events of our San Diego Comic Con, we the “Disabled”, are well taken care of.
I got to each of these early, and got a good seat. Plus… I placed the CON BAG, with my Ying/Yang Japanese Hat, in the seat to let it be known, “The Priest of Tao” sets HERE! I roamed about hall a visiting. This is my Con family I share with you. For you see, this is the way of the CON. At both events it was like family. The rest of this man’s Con was spent doing what are my remaining years in life, my profession, “Professional Cosplayer”, at the San Diego Comic Con 2012.
BEFORE I CLOSE THE SD CC 2012 WEB/NET REPORT:
“WHY IS THERE A SAN DIEGO COMIC CON?”
On this Sunday I must report to you my readers… “I SAW MY FATHER’S GHOST!”
Yes. You heard me right! I am a “Sensitive Soul”. That is if you my readers out there in the NET, have not figured out by now, by reading my posting. Out on the bay side of the Con I paused for a smoke. In the distance of the morning “Comic Con Gloom”, I saw a figure out line. It was the “Classic World War 2 America Infantryman”. Here at the Con, it is SOP with me, to ask for a “Reality Check”. And I needed one badly. I caught myself calling out: “FATHER, FATHER?” An elder man of about 60 years old was wearing just as I thought. Only difference was he was “Regular Army”, not “Marine Corp.”, as my father was. His wife was with him also. She was “Cut from the Same Bolt of Cloth”, as my mother was.
With tears in my eyes I explained myself. The Rushton family military history, my being a Veteran of Vietnam, and thanked him for coming here in the dress of TRUE AMERICAN HEROES! This here the reason that THE REASON THAT WE ARE FREE TO DREAM, AND MAKE THOSE DREAMS A “REALITY” HERE IN OUR AMERICA, STANDS HERE BEFORE US ALL! The “Vision of My Father”, I wish to share with you my readers here in the NET!
