I had my son this past weekend and we planned a build. He had a couple choices as we had a Gurren model, a RX-0 Unicorn Gundam and 02 Banshee (both Destroy Mode). He went with the "RX-0 Unicorn Gundam [Destroy Mode] Full Psycho-Frame Prototype Mobile Suit" (what a freaking mouth full).
He had the Signature Display stand for this, but forgot it at his Moms. He will put that together and then hopefully send me some photos. I decided to get him the Hong Kong Version as I know he likes things from overseas and can brag about it to his friends.
We actually did this in two sitting this past Sunday. Other than that, it was an easy build for us. I have to however get an additional set of cutters. We kept haggling over who needed the cutter more - LOL. I made copies of the last couple pages of instructions so we didn't have to fight over that. Like the last time, he took the top half and I took the bottom half of the figure. I also did the gun/shield as well. He then finished up and did the final assembly of the unit. We had a little mishap which we you will see in the 5th shot. He broke the sabre off his back pack, but nothing super glue can't fix later.
Here is the finished figure with an action shot sort of like the cover. We placed this near the window as I tried to showcase the translucent red frame. I really liked the light coming through the unit as it made it glow like in she show. When I took a shot without the flash, you really could see this.
Here is a final set of shots with my GFF Gundam Unicorn. It is a bit smaller than mine, but a bit more playable.I didn't have any issues posing the model version ans it didn't fall apart.
Have you has fun with your family doing some Gunpla or other model builds?
l love the way, the lights shine thru the red translucent parts. Nice work by your junior and cant's go wrong when daddy is taking pics of WIP.. Now your FA Unicorn GFF has found himself a partner. Cool!
ReplyDeleteWe have the RX-02 Banshee version as well. Once we put that one together, I will do another post. We have a blast doing this and is a wonderful way to have father/son time :^)
DeleteIt took me like a month to complete a Gundam. I guess its faster if two are doing it! Lol-
ReplyDeleteWe don't do any special mods or color them up any differently. It is easier with two people though. We just got done building the stands for this and the MSN-06S. Hopefully he will take shots of them after they are posed.
DeleteOoof that things looks pretty complicated to make. The result is cool though!
ReplyDeleteIt is like any model build, you just need to take your time and have patience. Something my son does well on these.
DeleteNicely built! Unicorn Gundam really stands out in its design. The transparent red psyco-frame revealed inside the armour is quite an eye-catcher!
ReplyDeleteI was told that the rear skirt armour comes off easily. Did the same thing happen to you? Hope I will get around to build mine... Eventually.
I did notice that with the rear skirt armor, but is didn't seem to be that bad. Once you had it up and posed, there wasn't any issues. Even when I was doing the shots, it stayed in place fine.
