From what they have noted, this will start production this year and that Kazuchika Kise (Production IG) is going to be heading this anime. He has been working with Shirow Masamune on this project which to is very cool. I can't imagine being able to talk with him about this and bounce ideas on what his vision is for this new series. It will be a backwards glimpse at the characters prior to the original anime released in 1995.
It is noted to be four 50 minute episodes (limited theatrical release) and then put into an OVA BD/DVD in June and July. In the March issues of Monthly Young Magazine, the manga will begin in reference to this series. I hope that Dark Horse or another US comic company can pickup this series for us here in the United States.
It was cool seeing Daisuke Aramaki in brown hair, but still bald - LOL. The big issue seems to be the look of Motoko. For some reason it is causing a large uproar with fans on the net. It is odd seeing her in such a young body, but they did happen to grasp her demeanor. Just check out her facial expression in that promo shot!
This series will also have a whole new set of voice actors/actresses. I find this odd since Maaya Sakamoto will be returning as Motoko, She was actually the voice of her when she was a child in SAC. I do appreciate Atsuko Tanaka, who voiced her all the other Ghost in the Shell anime, but I think this was a wise choice. It will help us to see her character development as we know that voices are different after we grow up. I think this is what they were going for and I feel works.
How do you feel about this new story arc of the GitS franchise?

How old is she supposed to be in the new one? Can't wait til this comes out! One of my favorites :)
ReplyDeleteI am not sure you can give her an age, but you can say a younger version of herself maybe??
DeleteNoticed the new 'Ghost In The Ghost' on Sankaku Complex for yours and the uproar of the new character design and change of voice actors! I think we just need to open-minded to new concept and the trailer seems fine to me.
ReplyDeleteSince they are going backwards in the timeline, then we do need to keep an open mind.
